Emerge is an emerging or fresh expression church community.
We are based on the following core values and beliefs:
~  We believe that God created the world and all that is in it; came into the world in the person of Jesus; and is with us and active today. We believe in God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

~  We believe that God loves us all, and wants to restore whatever is broken and damaging in his creation and in us. He invites us to share in the life and teaching of  Jesus in order that we can become part of this new life.

~  We believe that God is at work in many different expressions of Christian faith, and in the world. We value whatever furthers the life Jesus shows us, and we seek to recognise what God is saying and doing, and be partners with him in this.

~  We believe that our faith should transform us and make a difference to those around us, and that we should be engaged with world in which we live. We aim to grow closer to God and His plans for life.

~  We believe that the gospel concerns all of life, including home, work, and leisure, as well as sharing together. Discussion, learning, praying, and sharing food together, along with mutual support and socialising are all part of our common life as Christians.

~  Our aim is to be real, open and honest, and we would like to be our true selves with one another. We recognise that we're all at different points on our spiritual journey, and we aim to walk alongside and help each other.

~  We want to be an inclusive and welcoming community. We also aim to help one another grow, and our model for sharing together is Jesus' way of being both accepting and challenging. We recognise that we're all imperfect, and our goal is to support and encourage one another in becoming more the people God intended us to be.

~  Every person is uniquely valued by God, and has a divinely given personality and abilities. We respect and nurture these, and encourage everybody to use talents and resources for the good of all.

~  We draw on a range of spiritual traditions, and explore different ideas and ways of expressing our faith. How we function as a group is never 'set in stone', and is reviewed and agreed together. Anyone is welcome to come along and experience the group and see if they'd like to join us.

~  We share together as equals in the way of life God calls us to, and our activities are collaborative. We meet in an atmosphere of mutual respect and confidentiality.
